Why Lotus Speech & Wellness?

The lotus flower is a symbol often used in the wellness community representing rebirth and resilience. Though the lotus grows in muddy, murky waters, each morning it emerges to greet the sun, blooming into a brilliant flower. The lotus flower is simultaneously delicate and durable, able to survive in the most challenging of conditions.
Though sustaining neurological impairments can be life-altering experiences, our clients demonstrate remarkable resilience and the ability to grow and thrive despite the challenges they may face.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Which states do you serve?

We are currently offering speech-language services to people living in Maine. We are currently accepting new clients; contact us for more information and a free consultation.

What makes your practice different than other SLP practices?

Katherine has been practicing for over 12 years and is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist through the Brain Injury Association of America. With my prior experience working in inpatient and outpatient speech therapy clinics, I realized there was a need for ongoing, person-centered SLP and wellness services that went beyond the traditional medical model. While some other clinics offer services to all ages and disorders, I focus primarily on adults with neurological diagnoses. By offering our services via telepractice, we are able to provide services no matter where you live in Maine and what transportation is available.

What technology do I need to access SLP teletherapy?

All you need is a computer or tablet with a camera and internet access.

Do you accept insurance?

For Maine residents, we are in-network with Medicare Part B and MaineCare for skilled, medically-necessary services. We are out-of-network with commercial insurance companies, but can provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Many insurers will reimburse out-of-network services, but we recommend you verify with your insurance prior to starting therapy. Please contact us for further information about what an investment in our services might look like. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges to prevent surprise billing. We accept all major credit/debit cards as well as FSA/HSA cards.
